Cicada Song
Artist: Zach Lihatsh
Location: Euclid/ 7th Street - Across from Tucson High
Artist Statement:
The inspiration for this piece comes directly from the Sonoran Desert. The washes of Tucson function as a constant source of life and represent an intersection between the natural world and urban life. The song of the cicada heralds the changing seasons of the cycle of life.
Description:
The sculpture, comprised of three separate panels, replaces the older
standard railing at High School Wash. All elements are mild steel. The
largest central circle holds a cicada with spread wings. Complex twists
of branch-work fill most of the remaining space. 7' x 24' x 18"
