Southern Dogface butterflies - (Zerene cesonia)

The Southern Dogface (Zerene cesonia) butterflies on purple Lantana (8/13/2022) and on the 'volunteer' Transpecos Thimblehead (Hymenothrix wislizeni) wildflower. Butterflies love this plant which frequently grows along roadsides, desert washes or other areas with loose sandy soil. Near bottom, one enjoys my Pine leaf milkweed. And a caterpillar on an Indigo bush.
