Hummingbird perched on this cute new feeder I stuck in a pot right outside of my home office window.

Painted lady

I saw at least a half a dozen Painted Lady butterflies at Mesquite Valley Growers. Although they are common, I have not seen any yet in the yard. They have thick bodies like a moth. I thought it was cool that I ID'd it by memory.

Channeling

She is channeling her brother. She has never slept in this basket but HE did.

His hunting spot

Londo loved to hunt lizards, mice and birds from this vantage spot under the outdoor sofa. Fortunately, i was preety watchful and most of his efforts were catch and release. He is very sick but still willing to give it a go.

Stabilized for today.

Poop

She roosts here almost every day now. I suppose we're going to have to call her a pet.

Say's Phoebe

Say's Phoebe spotted at the fountain in the side yard. Not a first time visitor. I saw one last year.

East side pond

I love that I'm surrounded by so much natural beauty. Took a walk to the neighboring pond and saw a Belted Kingfisher.

Tiny horned lizard

Spotted this cute little Horned lizard (because I notice these things) on my Rollerblade this morning. Full grown adults can grow to be as large as my whole palm. The locals call these "horny toads."

Sky Island Highway

A work digital detox day drive up the Sky Island Highway. Listened to a UofA guided tour app that highlighted the geology. 100 degrees on the desert floor. 67 degrees at the Alpine forest summit.

The bats return!

I had nectar out in the bottle feeder last night and I noticed a few ounces gone this morning. Refilled it this evening and saw them at the feeder tonight!

Baby pigeons do exist

This has been the week for baby bird drama at the office. This little guy fell about 15 feet from his nest. Unfortunately he only lived about 10 minutes but this is the first time I've seen a baby pigeon this tiny. I swear they pop out full grown but here's proof they don't.

Ladder-backed woodpecker returns

I haven't seen the Ladder-backed woodpecker at the bird feeders since spring. I saw one twice today. The first one was at the suet feeder and I couldn't tell if it was male or female but the second time I saw one it was definitely a male.  That is a first for the feeders!
